SEC proposes to expand retail access to private markets. The Commission voted to propose rule amendments broadening the "accredited investor" definition (including holders of professional credentials such as the CPA and CFA designations) and permitting performance-based compensation of up to 20% for advisers to certain retail-facing private-asset vehicles, part of a wider push to widen individual access to private equity, private credit and venture capital. The proposals now go to Federal Register publication and public comment. SEC press release
