SEBI
SEBI warns listed companies and regulated entities of AI-driven “Boss Scam” fraud. On 17 July SEBI cautioned listed companies, intermediaries and regulated entities about a rising fraud pattern in which criminals impersonate CEOs/MDs — via email, WhatsApp, Teams, and increasingly deepfake voice or video — to instruct finance staff to make urgent wire transfers, sometimes paired with malware that hijacks a victim's WhatsApp Web session. The advisory follows an alert from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre and asks firms to verify any such instruction by direct contact with the named executive before acting, and to report incidents via the national cybercrime helpline (1930) or portal. Not a market-structure rule change, but a governance/operational-risk notice firms should route to finance and IT security teams. The Tribune
SEBI expands its forensic-auditor panel by 18 firms. The regulator added 18 more empanelled forensic-audit firms — including Ernst & Young LLP, KPMG Assurance and Consulting Services LLP, and Grant Thornton Bharat LLP — to the roster used to investigate suspected financial irregularities at listed companies, valid for three years from publication. It supplements the panel first constituted in April 2025 and modestly deepens SEBI's forensic-investigation capacity ahead of any enforcement action. Outlook Business
