Regulatory News Wrap for Asia

Monday, 2026-10-26 · covering Friday through the weekend

India

SEBI

SEBI fixes 8 November as the effective date for the research-analyst call-recording relief. A circular amending the Master Circular for Research Analysts operationalises the relaxation reported last week: call recordings of interactions with institutional clients are no longer mandatory, though other record types (email, SMS, signed physical notes) still are, and the five-year retention period is unchanged. Circular

No other new SEBI circulars, press releases or consultation papers over the window; markets were shut for the weekend.

Exchanges (NSE/BSE)

No material NSE or BSE circulars this window. Friday and the weekend brought only the routine ASM/ST-ASM/ESM surveillance lists, a single-stock F&O exclusion tied to a delisting, index rebalancing and listing/NFO housekeeping — nothing in algo trading, colocation, tick sizes, circuit limits or block/bulk deal rules.

RBI, IFSCA & other

No new FEMA/FPI, settlement or payment-system rule-making from RBI as rule-maker this window; its one capital-markets-adjacent notice simply reassigned which regional office handles FEMA compounding applications, not a substantive rule change. Nothing from IFSCA.

Rest of Asia — Developed Markets

Nothing new out of Japan, Hong Kong or Singapore this window, and a quiet one for Australia and New Zealand too — Australia's only in-window activity was routine ASIC enforcement, not rule-making.

Rest of Asia — Emerging Markets

Indonesia: OJK imposed Rp2.1 trillion (around US$117 million) in sanctions on parties linked to listed companies DSSA, BREN and CUAN over alleged trading manipulation and IPO-allocation irregularities, delivering the sanction letters in person on 21 October; press reports tie the parties to the Widjaja and Prajogo Pangestu business groups, and the action sits inside the ownership-transparency concerns MSCI raised around its index review. OJK has not issued a new trading rule on the matter, and a dozen-plus securities-company directors face licence suspension alongside the other individuals and entities named. Press release

No rule changes from China, Korea or Taiwan's regulators this window — Taiwan's market was also shut for a holiday on Friday. Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines: nothing material.
