Market signal

Bitcoin and ether recover as Treasury yields hit multi-decade highs. Bitcoin rose roughly 1% to just above $84,200 on Tuesday, finding buyers on dips toward $82,500, while ether climbed about 2% to near $2,720; the move came even as the 10-year Treasury yield held near 5.25% — its highest since 2007 — and the 30-year touched 5.58%, the highest since June 2002, before easing to 5.55%. The bounce keeps bitcoin on pace for a third straight monthly gain in September, a streak last seen in 2012. CoinDesk · CoinDesk

Markets & flows — ETFs, stablecoins & on-chain

Bitcoin ETFs stretch their inflow streak to eight days, ether funds to seven, as SOL and XRP products add to the tally. US spot bitcoin ETFs took in $31.07m net on Monday, September 28 — an eighth consecutive inflow day — with BlackRock's IBIT adding $54.84m against redemptions from Fidelity's FBTC ($1.09m) and Grayscale's GBTC ($2.32m); spot ether ETFs added $17.1m the same day, a seventh straight positive session, led by BlackRock's ETHA ($15.35m) and 21Shares' TETH ($1.74m). Spot SOL and XRP funds added a combined $17m, while the sole US spot ZEC fund posted the day's only ETF outflow, losing about $8m. KuCoin · KuCoin · CoinDesk, via SoSoValue

The industry — exchanges, miners & infrastructure

No material industry news in the last 24 hours. Bitget's phased withdrawal resumption (reported here Monday) remains on track toward its October 2 target for the last affected assets, and nothing new has surfaced on the $387.5m breach since.

Policy & regulation

No material new regulatory action in the last 24 hours. The CFTC's crypto-market rulemaking remains under White House/OIRA review and the SEC's Regulation Crypto Assets proposal stays in its comment period (through October 20); nothing new broke from the SEC, Treasury, or the EU/Asian regulators.

The Chatter

Marty Gold, Au79 Macro Research (Substack, Sep 28): argues the US has entered a "fiscal dominance" phase in which sovereign deficits, not private credit, now drive inflation and liquidity, pointing to the Treasury doubling its long-dated bond buybacks over 72 hours to defend the 10-to-30-year sector and the overnight reverse repo facility draining to near zero; he frames bitcoin and ether as high-duration liquidity assets that trade on that plumbing rather than as tech bets, and says institutions are quietly moving spot BTC and ETH into cold storage while retail stays leveraged in derivatives. Mike Richardson, Bitcoin News Digest (Substack, Sep 28): frames bitcoin's pullback from the weekend's $85,160 high toward $83,000 as a tug-of-war between Brent crude's break above $100 and rebuilding Fed-hike odds on one side, and sustained institutional accumulation — continued treasury buying by Strategy and Strive, plus Bitget's recovery from its hack — on the other, arguing the latter is the more durable force.
