Market signal

Bitcoin's weekend grind turns into a Monday slide as Treasury yields push to fresh highs and the dollar firms. Bitcoin held a tight band near $83,000 through the weekend, but the daily RSI slipped to 21.8 – its lowest reading in four years – before Monday's session opened near $83,670 and drifted back under the $82,500–83,000 band as long-dated Treasury yields extended their climb and the dollar strengthened, reviving the yields-vs-bitcoin pressure that drove last week's tape. Ether tracked lower into the mid-$2,500s; Solana was the weakest major, down roughly 10% over five sessions. Yahoo Finance · CryptoTicker, week in review

Markets & flows — ETFs, stablecoins & on-chain

Bitcoin ETFs eke out a small inflow Friday, halting a two-day, ~$730m outflow run. US spot bitcoin ETFs took in a net $21.1m on October 9 per SoSoValue/Farside data, with BlackRock's IBIT adding $22.4m against a $3.6m redemption from Fidelity's FBTC; the day stopped the bleeding from Tuesday and Wednesday's combined outflows but didn't reverse the month's slide into the red. Ether ETFs stretch their losing streak to a ninth straight session, the category's worst week since January. US spot ether ETFs shed roughly $56.1m on October 9, almost entirely from BlackRock's ETHA, extending a run that began September 29; weekend market wraps flagged the week ended October 9 as ether ETFs' poorest since January. Whales add to bitcoin, ether and XRP positions through the correction. Analyst Ali Charts estimated large wallets accumulated roughly 15,000 BTC, 166,000 ETH and 45m XRP over the 72 hours of the weekend pullback — a qualitative read on large-holder behaviour during the dip, not a price call. The industry — exchanges, miners & infrastructure

No material exchange, miner or infrastructure news cleared the bar over the weekend; the listed complex sat quiet while the market absorbed the yield-driven pullback.

Policy & regulation

France's Finance Committee advances a stablecoin-swap tax and crypto exit tax ahead of Tuesday's floor debate. The National Assembly's Finance Committee adopted an amendment making conversions of crypto into fiat-pegged stablecoins a taxable event from January 2027, plus an exit tax on unrealized gains for holders above €800,000 who move tax residence abroad and a 10-year loss-carryforward measure; neither tax's rate has been published, and the full Assembly begins examining the 2027 budget bill – where these provisions still need floor approval – on Tuesday, October 13. The Chatter

Nothing from the regular desks cleared the bar this time: Arthur Hayes, Lyn Alden, Nic Carter, Galaxy's Alex Thorn, Glassnode's Week On-chain, Ecoinometrics, CryptoQuant's Ki Young Ju, Bankless, Messari and Delphi were all quiet on dated, on-the-record arguments through this window, and nothing in the general commentary added a thesis beyond the yields-and-dollar story already covered above. Worth another look once the week's research notes land.
