EU & ESMA

No material new ESMA or European Commission market-structure items in the last 24 hours. ESMA's equity-market-structure call for evidence (closed 30 June) is still awaiting a Q3 2026 feedback statement; the EuroCTP authorisation and T+1 statement are unchanged.

United Kingdom

FCA finalises overhaul of UK transaction reporting (PS26/15). Published 3 August, the policy statement cuts reportable transaction fields from 65 to 52 and removes reporting obligations entirely for roughly 7 million instruments only tradeable on EU venues, eliminating the EU-venue overlap in UK MiFIR reports (FX derivatives reporting is also dropped, relying instead on UK EMIR data). The FCA estimates over £100m/year in industry savings; the new regime is formally in force from 3 April 2028, but firms can align early under a flexible supervisory approach in the interim. It affects every UK investment firm and trading venue with MiFIR reporting obligations. FCA policy statement PS26/15

No update to CP26/30, CP26/31 or the market activity reporter tool since Friday's edition.
