TMX Group completes acquisition of Cboe Australia; exchange rebrands as TMX Australia Exchange. TMX Group closed its purchase of Cboe Australia (formerly Middlebury Holdings Pty Ltd) from Cboe Global Markets on 2 August 2026, following ASIC's assessment and approval of the change of control under s852DG of the Corporations Act. Cboe Australia handles roughly 18–20% of ASX-listed equity turnover (about A$2bn/day traded) and holds a listings licence granted in October 2025, so the deal brings a second, now Canadian-owned, competitor market operator under continued ASIC oversight through the systems/branding transition; no immediate rule changes were announced.
