Uranium & Nuclear Energy Corner
Wednesday, 2026-09-30 · covering the last 24h
Upstream — mining & supply
No material mining, developer or country-policy news cleared the bar in the last 24 hours — a check across the major producers and developers and the Kazakh, Namibian, Nigerien, Canadian, Australian and US policy trackers turned up nothing beyond noise already reflected in recent editions.
Midstream — conversion, enrichment & fuel
Equally quiet on conversion, enrichment and fuel fabrication; nothing distinct from the General Matter and Framatome items already covered in the last two editions.
Nuclear energy — reactors, industry & demand
NRC issues the first US construction permit for a commercial small modular reactor, clearing TVA to build a BWRX-300 at Clinch River. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved a construction permit for the Tennessee Valley Authority's GE Vernova Hitachi BWRX-300 boiling-water SMR at the Clinch River site near Oak Ridge, Tennessee — the first construction authorisation for a commercial SMR in the US and the NRC's second major new-reactor construction approval this year, after TerraPower's Natrium permit in March; the agency closed its review roughly four months ahead of schedule. TVA still needs a separate operating licence before it can load fuel. NRC press release · World Nuclear News
The Chatter
Leo Sun (The Motley Fool): writing the day after Cameco's latest pullback, Sun argues the stock — now about 35% below its all-time high amid a rise in interest rates — still isn't obviously cheap on a near-term growth basis despite the decline, and that the case for buying rests on multi-year uranium and enrichment demand rather than on valuation right now. His read, not this desk's. Post
Otherwise a quiet window for fresh, dated third-party argument distinct from the newswire item above — nothing else cleared the bar after a proper look across X, Substack and fund/analyst notes.
