SEC grants Cboe Clear U.S. temporary registration as a clearing agency. The order (Release No. 34-106723) gives Cboe Clear U.S. LLC — already a CFTC-registered derivatives clearing organization — temporary SEC registration as a securities clearing agency, a stopgap that lets it begin clearing binary options tied to corporate KPIs as early as the fourth quarter; full registration is contingent on meeting clearing-agency requirements within 18 months. It brings a new clearing entrant, and a new options product type, under SEC oversight. Federal Register order
Otherwise quiet: today's SEC filings were routine SRO fee-schedule housekeeping, the CFTC had no new rulemakings, and the Fed's items were ordinary bank-holding-company notices.
Canada
Nothing new from the Bank of Canada, CIRO, the CSA or TMX since yesterday.
Latin America
A quiet day across Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile; nothing new from the CVM, B3, BCRA, CNV, Banxico or Chile's CMF since the prior edition.
