SEBI
No new material SEBI circulars, press releases or consultation papers this window. No update to Monday's order barring Zee Entertainment and promoters Subhash Chandra and Punit Goenka from the securities market over the Hyderabad property-pledge case; Zee has said it will take legal advice while maintaining the debarment does not affect its shareholder-approved ₹2,300 crore capital raise. The comment window on the draft Portfolio Managers Regulations, 2026 remains open until 13 August.
Exchanges (NSE/BSE)
No new material NSE or BSE circulars this window beyond routine settlement-calendar, new-listing and surveillance notices. Category I (F&O-eligible) stocks completed a third live day of the Closing Auction Session on 5 August, with no operational issues reported since Monday's go-live.
RBI, IFSCA & other
The RBI's three-day Monetary Policy Committee meeting concludes today; the rate decision is due at 10am IST with Governor Sanjay Malhotra's press conference at noon, both after this edition goes out, and consensus expects the repo rate held at 5.25%. The comment window on RBI's draft Foreign Exchange Management (Foreign Investment) Rules, 2026 — which would replace the NDI Rules, 2019 and extend the 10% FDI/FPI threshold test to unlisted companies — remains open until 31 August. No new IFSCA circulars or consultation papers bearing on equities this window. Business Standard, RBI draft rules coverage
Rest of Asia — Developed Markets
A quiet window: no material new regulatory or market-structure announcements from Hong Kong (SFC, HKEX), Japan (JFSA, JPX/TSE), Singapore (MAS, SGX RegCo), Australia (ASIC, ASX) or New Zealand (FMA, NZX) this window.
Rest of Asia — Emerging Markets
South Korea's tripled cash-deposit requirement for single-stock leveraged ETFs and ETNs takes full effect today, 5 August, with substitute securities now excluded entirely so only cash counts toward the 30 million won (roughly US$20,300) base deposit. The FSC has also extended the cash-only rule to foreign-listed single-stock leveraged products that track Korean names (such as overseas ETNs referencing Samsung Electronics or SK Hynix), to close an offshore workaround; a further phase-in step barring substitute securities as collateral more broadly is expected around 19 August. This follows the emergency Capital Markets Act amendment and stress-testing questions flagged earlier this week. FSC (Korean), BigGo Finance
Elsewhere, a quiet window: no new circulars or structural rule changes from China (CSRC, SSE/SZSE, Stock Connect), Taiwan (FSC, TWSE/TPEx), Thailand (SEC, SET), Indonesia (OJK, IDX), Malaysia (SC, Bursa) or the Philippines (SEC, PSE) this window.
