RBI, IFSCA & other

RBI's 24 August VRRR auctions both clear well below their notified size. The 7-day Variable Rate Reverse Repo auction (notified ₹2,50,000 crore) drew bids of only ₹91,980 crore, all accepted at a 5.24% cut-off and weighted average rate, for reversal on 31 August. A same-day overnight VRRR auction (notified ₹1,50,000 crore) drew just ₹49,206 crore, also accepted in full at 5.24%, for reversal on 25 August. Both are routine liquidity-absorption operations under the LAF, not a policy signal, but the thin coverage — roughly a third of the amount on offer in each case — contrasts with the oversubscribed overnight rounds seen the previous week. RBI press releases

No new items from the MPC or IFSCA this window; the draft FEMA (Foreign Investment) Rules, 2026 comment window remains open until 31 August.
