RBI's 25 August VRRR auction again draws bids well below the notified size. The 2-day Variable Rate Reverse Repo auction, notified at ₹1,75,000 crore, received bids of only ₹98,516 crore, all accepted at a 5.24% cut-off and weighted average rate, for reversal on 27 August. This is the third consecutive VRRR round — after Monday's 7-day and Tuesday's overnight auctions — to clear at roughly half or less of the amount on offer, a routine LAF liquidity-absorption operation rather than a policy signal. RBI press releases
No new items from the MPC or IFSCA this window; the draft FEMA (Foreign Investment) Rules, 2026 comment window remains open until 31 August.

Thailand: The cabinet approved draft amendments to four capital-market laws — the Securities and Exchange Act, the Derivatives Act, the Trust for Transactions in Capital Market Act, and the Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses. The package, put forward by the SEC, would let SEC officials work directly alongside police on insider-trading, market-manipulation and corporate-fraud probes (cases that currently take over two years given limited investigative capacity), and also tightens supervision of audit firms and securities/derivatives business operators. The bills now go to Parliament. Kaohoon International
