RBI, IFSCA & other

RBI's Monday VRRR round draws bids for under 40% of a ₹10 lakh crore combined notified amount, its weakest cover yet. The 15-day Variable Rate Reverse Repo auction (notified ₹6,00,000 crore, for reversal on 15 September) drew just ₹1,34,625 crore in offers, and the same-day overnight VRRR (notified ₹4,00,000 crore) drew ₹2,49,840 crore — both fully accepted at a 5.24% cut-off and weighted average rate. The combined ₹3,84,465 crore accepted is below half the ₹10 lakh crore offered and continues the undersubscription pattern seen through the second half of August. RBI has since notified a fresh 7-day VRRR auction for today, 1 September, sized at ₹6,00,000 crore, with the auction window 9:30–10:00am and reversal on 8 September. RBI press releases

The draft FEMA (Foreign Investment) Rules, 2026 comment window closed 31 August; the rules, which would replace the Non-Debt Instruments Rules, 2019, now move toward finalisation. No new items from the MPC or IFSCA this window.
