Regulatory News Wrap for Asia
Monday, 2026-10-05 · covering the last 72h (Friday–Monday)
India
SEBI
No new SEBI circulars, press releases or consultation papers this window. No RBI sign-off or launch date has emerged yet for NSE's corporate bond index futures (SEBI no-objection issued 1 October, reported previously) — SEBI says talks with RBI are ongoing.
Exchanges (NSE/BSE)
NSE and BSE were closed Friday 2 October for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, then the weekend; no new circulars beyond routine settlement-calendar and corporate-action notices surfaced for the window.
RBI, IFSCA & other
No new FEMA/FPI, settlement or payment-system rule-making circulars from RBI, and nothing from IFSCA, this window. The RBI Monetary Policy Committee meets 5–7 October; any Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies accompanying Wednesday's resolution will be covered once published — the rate decision itself is out of scope.
Rest of Asia — Developed Markets
Singapore — SGX: The standard board lot size for specified SGX-listed instruments priced above S$10 shrank from today, 5 October — from 100 units to 10 units for instruments priced above S$10 up to S$100, and to a single unit above S$100. The change (announced 1 July, alongside custody-structure enhancements that took effect in July) initially covers 11 stocks priced above S$10, lowering the cash outlay needed to trade board lots in Singapore's larger blue chips; SGX will review extending it to further instruments each quarter, next in January 2027. SGX announcement
No material new circulars, rule changes or consultations surfaced from Japan (JFSA, JPX/TSE/OSE, BoJ), Hong Kong (SFC, HKEX, HKMA) or New Zealand (FMA, NZX, RBNZ) this window. Australia's ASIC is running an open consultation (CS 63, comments close 5 November) on updated algo-trading guidance following its finalisation of AI/automated-trading safeguards under the Market Integrity Rules on 24 September — outside this window but worth watching as it develops.
Rest of Asia — Emerging Markets
Mainland Chinese exchanges (SSE, SZSE, Beijing SE) and Stock Connect were closed all week for the National Day Golden Week holiday (1–7 October); no CSRC or PBoC rule-making surfaced regardless. Checked and quiet for South Korea (FSC/FSS, KRX, BoK), Taiwan (FSC, TWSE/TPEx, CBC), Thailand (SEC, SET, BoT), Indonesia (OJK, IDX, BI), Malaysia (SC, Bursa, BNM), the Philippines (SEC, PSE, BSP) and Vietnam (SSC, HOSE/HNX, SBV) — no new rule-making this window.
