Market signal
Gold and silver extend Thursday's slide as December-hike bets keep firming; the gold/silver ratio stretches further. Spot gold eased through Friday's session, trackers putting it anywhere from roughly $3,870 to $3,990/oz depending on the hour (Fortune had it near $3,962 in the morning, APMEX near $3,891 by late afternoon, BullionVault around $3,873 into the London close) as Thursday's stronger-than-expected Q3 GDP print continued to feed bets on a December 9 Fed hike. Silver fell alongside it to roughly $49.50–51/oz, and Kitco's gold/silver ratio read 79.5 — up from 74.82 as recently as Tuesday, a further widening since Agnico Eagle and Kinross's Wednesday results. Platinum and palladium again had no catalyst of their own. Fortune · Kitco · CME FedWatch
Upstream — miners, streamers & supply
Alamos Gold's AISC climbs to $1,956/oz even as Island Gold District sets a production record; underground shaft slips to mid-2027. Third-quarter revenue rose 10% year over year to $510.4M on sales of 118,361 oz at an average realized price of $4,258/oz, with reported net earnings of $165.6M ($0.40/share) and adjusted earnings of $184.0M ($0.44/share). Total cash costs rose to $1,375/oz and all-in sustaining costs to $1,956/oz on inflation and lower grades at Island Gold, even as the Island Gold District (Island Gold plus Magino) delivered a record quarterly 68,700 oz; the company said commissioning of Island Gold's new underground shaft has slipped roughly a quarter to mid-2027. Gold production of about 119,000 oz for the quarter met guidance. Alamos Gold Q3 2026 results (SEC filing)
Nothing else from the majors, the silver/PGM producers or the royalty trio this window. AngloGold Ashanti's Q3 print is now tracking to early November rather than today as previously flagged, and Barrick still follows on November 9.
Physical & official flows — central banks, ETFs & bullion
An eighth straight quiet window on the official side: the World Gold Council's September central-bank tally still hasn't landed, no GLD or SLV sponsor flagged an unusual creation or redemption, and Shanghai and Indian premiums stayed out of today's headlines.
Silver & PGMs — the industrial complex
Nothing new on the industrial side beyond Alamos's silver by-product output noted above: no fresh South African PGM labour or power disruption, no recycling or hedging disclosure, and no update to the standing 2026 silver-deficit arithmetic. Silver's slide today was the same positioning move covered in the market signal, not a fresh demand story.
The Chatter
An eighth straight quiet window for the regular roster: another proper pass turned up nothing newer and freely accessible from Lyn Alden, Luke Gromen, Tavi Costa, Jan Nieuwenhuijs, GoldFix's Vince Lanci, Ross Norman or the World Gold Council's own analyst team, and Incrementum has published nothing beyond its spring report. We're leaving the slot empty again rather than stretch for something that isn't there.
