Market signal
Gold claws back part of Friday's one-year-low plunge as oil slides and midterm anxiety cuts both ways. Spot gold, which closed Friday down 3.6% at its lowest since October 2025 and had silver briefly through $50 on the way down, bounced Monday as crude fell more than 6% on reports of a third straight day of Iran–Qatar talks aimed at ending the US–Israeli strikes on Iran — trackers differ on the exact level into the London close, from roughly $3,902 to $3,957/oz, a gain of 0.7–2.1% on the day. Silver rebounded with it, from Friday's $49.13 close to a range of about $50–51.25, putting the gold/silver ratio back down from Friday's extreme into the high 70s/low 80s depending on which print you use; platinum traded near $1,458, palladium had no catalyst of its own. Traders trimmed the odds of a December 9 Fed hike to about 77% from 80% a week ago. Tuesday's US midterm vote is the overhanging wildcard — Julius Baer's Carsten Menke noted deficits persist whoever wins the still-too-close-to-call Senate. Mining.com (Reuters) · BullionVault · CNBC
Upstream — miners, streamers & supply
A quiet window on the corporate side: nothing fresh from the majors, the silver/PGM producers or the royalty trio. The next catalysts are dated and close together — Pan American Silver reports Q3 after the close Wednesday November 4, Wheaton Precious Metals on Thursday November 5, AngloGold Ashanti around November 6, Barrick on November 9 and Franco-Nevada on November 11.
Physical & official flows — central banks, ETFs & bullion
A ninth straight quiet window on the official side: the World Gold Council's September central-bank tally still hasn't landed, no GLD or SLV sponsor flagged an unusual creation or redemption over the weekend, and Shanghai and Indian premiums stayed out of the headlines.
Silver & PGMs — the industrial complex
Nothing new on the industrial side this window: no fresh South African PGM labour or power disruption, no recycling or hedging disclosure, and no update to Northam Platinum's sale process beyond last week's interest from multiple suitors ahead of its December 1 deadline. Silver's move today was the same short-covering bounce covered in the market signal, not a fresh demand story.
The Chatter
A ninth straight quiet window for the regular roster: another proper pass turned up nothing newer and freely accessible from Lyn Alden, Luke Gromen, Tavi Costa, Jan Nieuwenhuijs, GoldFix's Vince Lanci, Ross Norman or the World Gold Council's own analyst team, and Incrementum's next word on gold follows its May report. We're leaving the slot empty again rather than stretch for something that isn't there.
