RBI, IFSCA & other
RBI's overnight VRRR auction draws bids for over 90% of the notified amount, its strongest cover of the current run. Wednesday's overnight Variable Rate Reverse Repo auction (notified ₹5,00,000 crore, for reversal on 3 September) drew and fully accepted ₹4,59,843 crore in offers at a 5.24% cut-off and weighted average rate — a sharp rebound from Monday's combined 15-day/overnight rounds, which absorbed under 40% of a ₹10 lakh crore offer, and Tuesday's 7-day round, which drew under a fifth of its ₹6,00,000 crore notified amount. RBI has since notified a fresh overnight VRRR auction for today, 3 September, sized at ₹6,00,000 crore, with the auction window 9:30–10:00am and reversal on 4 September. RBI press releases
Government to buy back up to ₹30,000 crore of four short-dated securities via RBI auction today. The buyback, covering the 7.33% GS 2026, 5.74% GS 2026, 8.15% GS 2026 and 8.24% GS 2027 papers, runs on RBI's E-Kuber platform between 10:30 and 11:30am using the multiple-price method, with no amount notified for individual securities within the aggregate ceiling — a further debt-management operation alongside the ongoing VRRR liquidity absorption.
